Code Of Conduct
By attending a All Jiu Jitsu Association (AJJA) event, you agree to adhere to the following code of conduct:
Competitor must compete at or above your rank/skill level unless you are merged with a lower rank. NO SANDBAGGING!
If competitor is a black belt in judo or blue belt in Luta Livre, you must enter at blue belt or above.
If competitor has experience in any type of wrestling at a competitive and or collegiate level, you must enter at blue belt or above.
If competitor has fought professional MMA you must enter at blue belt or above.
All competitors wear footwear off of the mats.
No Wrestling shoes on mats.
Competitors Gi must fit properly. If it is too small the referee may ask you to change it or you could be disqualified.
No-Gi competitors may compete with or without a Rash Guard. No T-shirts or loose Rash Guards.
No slippery substances allowed on body or clothing.
No Jewelry, hairpins or metal of any kind.
No pockets or zippers on clothing
Competitors may compete with some tape and/or soft braces for joints. (No metal or plastic or velcro allowed, including cups).
Competitors must have clean gear and good hygiene. Nails must be trimmed and long hair should be pulled up or braided. No mo-hawks or spray painted hair or shampoo-dyed hair as it may bleed on to opponents clothing from sweat.
Any threats, actions of violence and/or harassment of spectators, competitors, referees, and event staff will not be tolerated in any form and may result in removal from the event.
No profanity, racist or sexist slurs
No unsportsmanlike conduct from competitor or coaches
How to win
Submit your opponent, Advantages, Referee Decision, Opponent is disqualified, Opponent forfeits.
Attack and lock-in a submission to earn an advantage.
If the time limit expires and no-one has scored an advantage, the referee will judge the match considering aggression first and positional dominance next.
Avoid stalling as you will receive a penalty which will cancel out an advantage Advantage = 1 point, Penalty = -1 point
If a referee feels you are in danger and unable to defend yourself, they may stop the match and declare your opponent the winner.
Become familiar with the techniques allowed in your division. You will be disqualified for using illegal techniques.
Note to parents* We prioritize our competitors safety, especially our kids divisions. If a submission attempt posses risk of injury, we will stop the match.

Open & National Championships
Kids (Ages 4-12) Divisions = 3 Minutes
Teens (Ages 13-17) Divisions = 4 Minutes

All Masters Divisions (30+) = 5 Minutes
World Championships
Kids Divisions = 3 Minutes for Qualifying Rounds, and 5 Minutes for Finals.
Teens Divisions = 4 Minutes for Qualifying Rounds and 6 Minutes for Finals
Adults Divisions = 8 Minutes for Qualifying Rounds and 10 Minutes for Finals

All competitors
No striking of any kind. This means with hands, arms, feet, legs, head, elbows, knees.
No pressure into the eyes, into or across groin or nose unless it is an inevitable and unintended result of a legitimate technique
No hair pulling
No pinching
No biting or fishhooks
No spitting
No attacking individual fingers or toes. You must grab at least 4 fingers and 5 toes. you may not grab the thumb by itself.
Listen to referees instructions at all times, do not attack opponent if referee stops or pauses the match
No stalling
Taking more than 3 steps away from your opponent while they are seated will warrant a penalty (the ref may give you a warning at his/her own discretion.
Constantly avoiding your opponent and not commencing will warrant a penalty for stalling
No grabbing the opponents clothing in No-Gi
No competitor may compete with any communicable skin disease
Any expulsion of urine, feces, or vomit of any kind will result in disqualification
If you are bleeding the match will pause and you will have 3 minutes for it to stop. If you cant stop the bleeding you will have to forfeit the match. If you have more matches, you can still compete as long as you are not bleeding.
Placing a knee on the ground with no intention to attack or defend is stalling and you will receive a penalty
No communicating with the referee during the match. Always be respectful towards referee and staff.

Kids and Teens Notes
If your child does not have an opponent in their age or bracket, we may move them up or down in age. If they still do not have an opponent we have to place them in a slightly heavier or older bracket. We will notify you and request your approval prior to competition day. You will receive a refund if you do not get a match.
If there are 2 females in a bracket they will have their own bracket. Otherwise they will be offered to go with the males. If they do not want to compete with a male, you will receive a refund.
Adult Notes
Masters competitors can compete in lower age categories
We will always try to find you the closest match but we may have to move you up a weight or down an age. You can always accept or decline this offer.
